HorOS
… a visionary distribution study

Introduction

This is an introduction to build qLinux from scratch. For general information about what is qLinux and why it was made refer to qLinux Home.

The first turn of building qLinux from scratch was a study to see if this is doable at all. And it was. Like expected - otherwise it wouldn't have made sense to start the project. Everything is software, somehow written to find files and directories. The result was a working, stable and fast operating system. A bit surprisingly but on the other hand not again.

Current Build

This is the latest version under active development. It could be read here: Current Build.

qLinux from scratch will be discussed at the qlinux users mailing list.

Historical Versions

These historical versions have reached the end of life:

1)
this means e.g. the apache web server
2)
I manipulated/configured the directory layout of some systems in the past, but this was very hard to maintain
3)
one goal is to avoid configuration files which just reflect the defaults or have comments only
